Opportunity Overview

Our client is committed to achieving excellence in health services and is looking for a dedicated Workers Compensation Board (WCB) Specialist. This position involves providing case services for both complex and noncomplex WCB claims and acting as a liaison among employers, treatment providers, and the WCB.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Provincial Manager of Disability Management within Occupational Health Safety and Wellness, the WCB Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Providing case management and return-to-work coordination for all workplace injury and illness claims.
  • Reviewing accident report information and, when necessary, coordinating referrals to external treatment providers.
  • Completing electronic WCB employer injury reports.
  • Managing claims that may involve environmental concerns, workplace conflict, or mental health issues.

    • About You

    We would love to hear from you if you have the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in a health-related field (preferred: Nursing, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy).
  • Completion of or working towards credentials in Disability Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or Adult Education.
  • Current membership in good standing with a relevant professional body or eligibility for certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Professional.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience in management responsibility.
  • Experience in WCB claim management from clinic, board, or employer settings is a plus.
  • Developed and implemented an Occupational Health and Safety Management System in a complex organization (asset).
  • Experience working in a unionized environment (asset).
  • Knowledge of OH&S legislation, relevant Acts, Codes, Regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Computer skills in database, presentation, word processing, and statistical analysis software.
  • Strong working relationship-building skills.
  • Research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of healthcare issues and case management trends/best practices.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated presentation and adult education skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff in a complex organization.

    • Work Hours

    Permanent Full-Time; 75 Hours Bi-Weekly

    Compensation and Benefits

    Salary range: $35.98 – $44.97 per hour ($70,156 – $87,696 annually). Successful candidates may be eligible for a benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, life insurance coverage, and a defined benefit pension plan.
