Responsibilities

Tasks

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions using navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
• Address customers’ complaints or concerns
• Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques
• Maintain professionalism in customer service
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
• Drive lighter, special-purpose trucks
• Load and unload goods
• Obtain special permits and other documents for transporting cargo on international routes
• Operate and drive trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee vehicle condition and inspect tires, lights, brakes, etc.
• Handle payment transactions for goods
• Perform brake adjustments
• Carry out emergency roadside repairs
• Conduct preventive maintenance
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch
• Transport and handle dangerous goods
