Job Title: Systems Integration Specialist

The Opportunity:

Our client is currently seeking a Systems Integration Specialist to join their Rail and Transit team at their Toronto office or Project office. This role involves supporting the planning and execution of systems integration activities for a major urban rail extension project, interfacing new-build systems infrastructure with existing operational transit lines. You will work closely with Chief Engineers, Design Specialists, Project Managers, Analysts, and Third-Party Interfaces across rail and transit disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct functional analysis and create Systems Breakdown Structures, functional block diagrams, Systems Architecture, and sequence diagrams.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support the development of Rail & Transit systems integration.
• Manage Systems Integration, Systems Engineering, Interface Management, and System Cutover Plans.
• Develop Interface Definition Documents (IDD’s), Interface Control Documents (ICD’s), Integration Oversight Processes, and traceability documentation.
• Facilitate interface resolution meetings and workshops involving various project stakeholders.
• Align design integration activities with project stage gates and validate compliance with industry standards and client expectations.
• Mentor junior staff and provide leadership to enhance their technical skills.
• Plan and execute project work in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget.

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
• Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or P.Eng. License.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a transit or safety-critical industry.
• Minimum of 5 years in Systems Engineering domain is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Systems Engineering processes and principles.
• Experience in Systems Integration for complex Rail & Transit projects is an asset.
• Proficiency in systems lifecycle management and understanding of ISO/IEC 15288 and IEEE 1220 standards.
• Strong skills in communication, presentation, and report writing.

Preferred Experience:

• Involvement in systems integration for transit or rail extension projects, ideally in a progressive delivery model.
• Experience with Requirements Management and tools like IBM DOORS.
• Knowledge of transit-related subsystems such as SCADA, Communications, and Signaling.
