About the Project
Contribute to the success of our client’s Ontario Line South project, which includes the design, construction, and financing of a major transit project in Ontario. The project is set to create approximately 1,500 jobs at peak construction.

What the Project Involves

• A six-kilometer tunnel and related tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal.
• Stations include:
  • Integration with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
  • Two underground stations integrated with existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
  • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description

As a Site Geologist, you will play a crucial role in the project’s overall success through your expertise in structural geology and geological software.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise Secant Pile Drilling:
  • Assess bedrock depth according to existing Geotechnical design.
  • Collaborate with the design team for structural recommendations.
• Open Cut Excavation:
  • Conduct geological face mapping during excavations.
  • Analyze joint feature orientations and support geological assessments.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain geological observation records and drilling activities.
  • Generate detailed reports for stakeholders.
• Collaboration:
  • Work closely with Geotechnical Engineers and Project Managers.
  • Communicate geological findings to stakeholders.
• NATM Tunnel Experience:
  • Apply experience with New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) to project excavation.
• Instrumentation:
  • Interpret instrumentation data as part of the Monitoring Action Team.
• Design Review:
  • Contribute to SEM and SOE design reports.

Qualifications

– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
– Experience in supervising secant pile drilling and bedrock assessment.
– Strong background in structural geology with focus on joint description.
– Familiarity with open cut excavation and geological classification systems.
– Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
– Proficiency in technical software (e.g., DIPS, Wedge).
