We are actively seeking a Senior HR Business Partner for a significant project in Vancouver that aims to enhance public transportation. About the Role

The Senior HR Business Partner will provide essential Human Resources support for the Broadway Subway Project, a crucial extension of Vancouver’s transit system. This position involves a range of HR management processes and practices, focusing on talent acquisition, employee relations, training, and HR administration.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:

• Lead end-to-end recruitment processes in coordination with hiring managers.
• Develop and maintain applicant databases, screen resumes, and conduct interviews.
• Support onboarding processes, including any necessary relocations.
• Conduct new hire orientation presentations.
• Work with external recruitment partners as needed.

Employee & Labour Relations:

• Act as an advisor on HR best practices, employee engagement, and workplace conflict resolution.
• Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreements.
• Manage disciplinary actions and ensure compliance.
• Monitor employee morale and address potential issues proactively.
• Partner with management to develop retention strategies.

Project-Level HR Program Support:

• Support the deployment of corporate and project-level HR programs.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to incorporate HR practices into daily project execution.

Training & Development:

• Identify training needs at various levels.
• Recommend and coordinate relevant training programs.
• Maintain accurate training records.

Compliance & Administration:

• Maintain personnel files and HR documentation in compliance with legal standards.
• Accurately manage employee data in Workday.
• Participate in internal and external audits.
• Manage work permit and immigration processes in collaboration with legal advisors.

Collaboration & Reporting:

• Support other HR team members as necessary.
• Prepare HR reports and analyze metrics.
• Ensure project HR needs align with organizational priorities.

Other Duties

Additional duties related to the role as required.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field.
• CHRP designation (or in progress) is an asset.
• 4–6 years of progressive HR experience, ideally as a generalist.
• Experience in a unionized environment.
• Strong knowledge of employment standards and workplace safety regulations in British Columbia.
• Proficiency with Workday or another major HRIS platform.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Experience in construction or infrastructure projects is preferred.
• Ability to work independently on-site in a dynamic environment.
• High level of discretion in handling confidential information.
