As we scale, our Finance Department is evolving to meet the needs of our fast-paced, international business model. We are looking for a technically sharp and systems-savvy finance leader to own our accounting and reporting infrastructure, spearhead the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and help lay a foundation for sustainable growth across multiple regions and entities.

Role Overview

You will serve as the company’s Senior Financial Leader and the internal product owner for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Your dual mandate includes:

• Owning the full global US GAAP (USA) and IFRS (Canada, EU) accounting, global tax, project-cost, and management-reporting cycle for a fast-growing technology services business.
• Co-leading the roll-out, configuration, and continuous improvement of Dynamics 365 BC, ensuring that every finance-relevant module is implemented, integrated, supported by proper documentation, and used to best-practice standards by the internal team.

This role encompasses both the financial controlling function and leading the implementation and maintenance of our ERP system (Dynamics 365 BC).

Our Head of Finance is based in the Greater Toronto Area and aims to incorporate in-person collaboration into the team’s workflow. While we ideally would like this role to be hybrid for candidates in the GTA, we are open to fully remote arrangements for the right candidate anywhere in Canada.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Governance & Continuous Improvement

• Serve as internal product owner for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Co-lead the roll-out, configuration, and continuous improvement of Dynamics 365 BC.
• Ensure every finance-relevant module is implemented, integrated, and utilized according to best practices.
• Design, implement, and document finance-relevant modules and workflows.
• Liaise with Microsoft implementation partners and guide cross-functional teams.
• Build Power BI dashboards and financial reporting datasets.

Core Accounting & Financial Operations

• Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close under US GAAP.
• Oversee daily bank reconciliations.
• Manage cash management and build forecasts.
• Supervise monthly revenue recognition processes.
• Implement strong credit management policies.
• Manage accounts receivable and vendor payment journals.

Payroll & Tax Compliance

• Act as process owner for payroll.
• Work with FP&A to develop insights on labor costs.
• Implement global tax compliance processes.

Strategic & Operational Leadership

• Provide reports on financial performance to executive leadership.
• Automate and enhance accounting workflows.
• Manage intercompany transactions and payroll accounting.

Team Management & Collaboration

• Hire, mentor, and manage accountants and analysts.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure operational alignment.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting.
• Direct experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Proven skills in financial modeling and Excel.
• Experience managing external audits.
• Strong technical accounting background.
• Basic knowledge of corporate law and international tax planning.
• Ability to work in a dynamic start-up environment.

Nice-to-Haves

• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting designation.
• Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm.
• Power BI experience.
