Job Description

The Water team is delivering projects in Water and Sewer Hydraulic Analysis and Modelling, Conveyance System Design, System Optimization, Operational Studies/Improvements, Rehabilitation, Condition Assessment, and Asset Management. To address the growing market in wastewater and water analysis and project implementation, we are looking for a self-motivated engineering professional with progressively responsible experience in water hydraulic modelling, planning, study and conveyance system design, and project management. The preferred candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in (Civil) Engineering, hydraulic engineering or similar, with licensing as a Professional Engineer in their respective province.

Responsibilities

• Manage conveyance projects with open cut or trenchless technologies.
• Lead and support the development of design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Coordinate with other offices to deliver projects.
• Undertake quality control procedures.
• Prepare project work plans, budgets, and proposals.
• Oversee the preparation of tender documents, technical specifications, and schedules of quantities.
• Liaise with internal and external clients.
• Mentor junior and intermediate staff and provide civil engineering support as may be required.
• Organize project teams to support project design and execution.
• Monitor and lead project delivery against established budgets, schedules, and quality expectations.
• Engage and champion corporate safety policies and programs.
• Prepare studies and reports for municipal infrastructure and/or industrial development permit applications.
• Manage site inspections and construction Quality Assurance and assist with construction contract administration as required.
• Oversee and manage construction phases of projects to ensure compliance with project specifications, timelines, and budgets.
• Serve as lead engineer on mid to large-size projects.
• Provide specialized technical input for studies and design.
• Approve and sign off on work.
• Provide technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
• Present complex technical solutions to clients.
• Perform quality control reviews of work developed by others.
• Participate in the development of technical proposals.
• Provide estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 6+ years of experience.

Desired Qualifications:

• Familiarity with municipal gravity sewer and feeder mains design and construction standards.
• Experience managing municipal projects with large diameter (500mm and larger) pressurized and gravity projects.
• 12+ years of experience is preferred.
• Proficiency with Project Management tools and methodologies is a strong asset.
• Familiarity with project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Projects.
