Your Opportunity:This position is eligible for a remote hybrid agreement after a period of orientation. The Virtual Rapid Access Addiction Medicine program provides non-judgmental care to individuals seeking counselling, medical care, or other therapeutic interventions for substance use and addiction issues. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will be working with an interdisciplinary team to provide treatment and help coordinate care for clients.
Responsibilities:The successful candidate will have the ability to work within a team environment as well as function with minimal supervision. This position provides quality, client-focused, recovery-based, and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education, and referral services for clients and their families, as well as maintaining positive liaisons with community and provincial stakeholders. Within this role, the incumbent will:
Your understanding, passion, and experience in addiction medicine are essential, along with excellent computer, texting, and telephone etiquette, as you will be monitoring and evaluating client progress via telehealth and telephone.
Description:As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining, or restoring health, mental health, and preventing mental illness, injury, and disability. You will teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. You will provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.
Compensation:PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58/hour – $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Psychiatric Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Excellent knowledge of addictions and mental illness. Must be competent in identifying clients at risk and completing a suicide risk assessment. Knowledge of Suboxone/buprenorphine and Methadone. Advanced computer literacy. Above-average keyboarding skills and proficient with computer programs – Outlook, MS Office, Teams, Connect Care, etc.
