Our client is in a rural community in west central Alberta. Registered Nurses (RNs) work in a multidisciplinary team to provide nursing care in a blended acute/ER and continuing care environment. This environment is suitable for candidates who enjoy the challenge of providing a broad spectrum of nursing care and who have experience in such settings as ER, med-surg, and cardiac. The incumbent is also depended upon for leadership to LPNs and Health Care Attendants in caring for acute and long-term care clients. Our client offers an intimate team environment providing care with 14 acute care beds, 5 long-term care beds, 4 restorative beds, and a five-stretcher emergency department. This community is designated for Canada Student Loan forgiveness as part of the Rural Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Program if you meet the eligibility requirements.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, as well as teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of our client.

PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour – $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with the appropriate collective agreement.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of specific free courses is required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

• Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving ability in a charge nurse role in an acute care setting.
• Significant experience in preferably multiple acute clinical settings such as ER, acute care, med-surg, and cardiac.
• Demonstrated achievement in continual professional development and maintaining clinical competence.
• Current completion of various AHS facilitated continuing education or employer equivalency is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ACLS, TNCC, MOREOB, NRP, Lead 2 cardiac monitoring and CTAS are preferred.
