Job Summary

Program Details

• 11-week course
• Paid full-time hours
• Combination of instructor-led virtual and clinical education
• Formal 3-month mentorship offered after course completion
• Additional in-house opportunities for further certifications after completion

Primary Responsibilities

• Provides patient and family-focused care within the RN scope of practice, based on the three-factor framework of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Functions in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, including emergency codes.
• Ensures practice is consistent with entry to practice competencies, standards of practice, guidelines, and legislation.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team.
• Collaborates with healthcare team members to provide care for patients with complex health issues.
• Provides consultation and/or clinical support to peers as needed.
• Assists in the development and implementation of the Plan of Care.
• Acts as a role model to integrate safe, best practices into daily activities.
• Takes a leadership role in coordinating patient care in the assigned area.
• Assists in the orientation/preceptorship of new staff members and students.
• Effectively utilizes human and material resources.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical pathways.
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager/delegate.

Qualifications

• Current RN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Three (3) to five (5) years’ recent critical care nursing experience or Critical Care Certificate.
• ACLS preferred.
• Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated problem assessment skills.
• Commitment to customer service and teamwork.
• Individual leadership skills.

Critical Care Sponsorship Qualifications

• Current RN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum one (1) to three (3) years’ of recent medical and/or surgical nursing experience preferred.
• BCLS current certification.
• Current ACLS preferred.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Innovative and willing to learn.
• Commitment to customer service and teamwork.
