Job Summary

Program Details

• 11-week course
• Paid full-time hours
• Combination of instructor-led virtual and clinical education
• Formal 3-month mentorship offered after course completion
• Additional in-house opportunities for further certifications after the course completion

Primary Responsibilities

• Provides patient and family-focused care within the RN scope of practice based on the standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Functions in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures, including emergency codes.
• Ensures that practice is consistent with competencies, standards of practice, guidelines, and legislation.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Collaborates with team members to provide care for patients with complex health issues.
• Acts as a role model and champion to integrate safe best practices into daily activities.
• Takes a leadership role in coordinating patient care in the assigned area.
• Assumes charge nurse role when assigned.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical pathways.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager/delegate.

Skills & Abilities

• Current RN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Three (3) to five (5) years’ recent critical care nursing experience or Critical Care Certificate.
• ACLS preferred.
• Excellence in communication, both written and verbal.
• Problem assessment skills.
• Commitment to customer service and teamwork.
• Demonstrated individual leadership skills.

Qualifications for Sponsorship Opportunity

• Current RN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum one (1) to three (3) years’ of recent medical and/or surgical nursing experience preferred.
• BCLS current certification.
• Current ACLS preferred.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Innovative and willing to learn.

Regular and reliable attendance is expected in this role.
