Critical Care Nursing Program

Our client will be offering a paid Critical Care Nursing Program through the Michener Institute. Key details include:

• 11-week course
• Paid full-time hours
• Combination of instructor-led virtual and clinical education
• Formal 3-month mentorship offered after course completion
• Additional in-house opportunities for further certifications after course completion

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) role models clinical excellence and practice standards as designated by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), while collaborating as a member of the healthcare team. Successful candidates will provide excellent care to a diverse acute medical patient population in a fast-paced setting and will have a commitment to lifelong learning.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provides patient and family-focused care within the RN scope of practice.
• Follows established hospital policies and procedures, including emergency codes.
• Ensures consistent practice with entry-to-practice competencies and CNO standards.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team to manage care for complex health issues.
• Provides consultation and clinical support to peers as needed.
• Contributes to patient health status assessments and documentation.
• Assists in developing and evaluating the Plan of Care.
• Acts as a role model for safe, best practices.
• Takes leadership in coordinating patient care.
• Assumes charge nurse role when assigned.
• Participates in developing and evaluating clinical pathways.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager/delegate.

Qualifications

• Current RN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of recent critical care nursing experience or Critical Care Certificate.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Demonstrated excellence in communication and problem assessment.
• Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork.
• Individual leadership skills demonstrated.

Critical Care Sponsorship Qualifications

• Current RN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• One (1) to three (3) years of recent medical or surgical nursing experience preferred.
• BCLS certification current.
• ACLS preferred.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication abilities in both written and verbal form.
