About the Critical Care Nursing Program

• 11 week course
• Paid full-time hours
• Combination of instructor-led virtual and clinical education
• Formal 3-month mentorship offered after course completion
• Additional in-house opportunities for further certifications after course completion

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) will model clinical excellence and the core competencies of the practice standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). The RN will work collaboratively as a member of the healthcare team and provide excellent care to a diverse acute medical patient population in a fast-paced setting.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provides patient and family focused care within the RN scope of practice.
• Functions in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.
• Ensures that practice is consistent with entry to practice competencies, standards of practice, guidelines, and legislation.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team.
• Collaborates with members of the healthcare team to provide care for patients/clients with complex health issues.
• Provides consultation and/or clinical support to peers as needed.
• Contributes to the assessment and documentation of each patient’s health status on an ongoing basis.
• Assists in the development and implementation of the Plan of Care.
• Acts as a role model to integrate safe, best practices into daily activities.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical pathways.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager/delegate.

Qualifications

• Current RN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of recent critical care nursing experience or Critical Care Certificate.
• ACLS preferred.
• Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated problem assessment skills.
• Commitment to customer service and teamwork.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.

Critical Care Sponsorship Qualifications

• Current RN Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of recent medical or surgical nursing experience preferred.
• BCLS current certification.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Innovative and willing to learn.
