Your Opportunity

The ICU is a 29-bed unit characterized by high acuity and high occupancy. The ICU cares for critically ill patients from various programs including medicine, surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, neurosurgery, and trauma. The unit provides evidence-based services within an inter-disciplinary team model. Specialized services include acute ventilatory support, renal replacement for acute and chronic failure, therapeutic plasma exchange for hematological disorders, and critical care support for the regional bariatric program.

The Code Blue and Rapid Response Teams include nurses from the Intensive Care Unit. This unit is focused on continued Quality Improvement, providing a supportive environment for staff and students, and ensuring patients receive the best care possible. A Registered Nurse in this area will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The successful candidate will perform a variety of nursing duties and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and their families to achieve positive patient outcomes and improvements in quality care.

Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, while also teaching, counseling, and advocating on behalf of patients and their families.

You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. Your role will include providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Please Note: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58/hour – $54.16/hour. Upon qualification, the rate of pay will be adjusted according to applicable agreements.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the regulatory body.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• If not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of mandatory courses is required.

Additional Required Qualifications

• Full critical care training and a minimum of 1-year recent adult critical care experience required.
• Certification and experience in emergency and trauma management.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to critically think and provide mentorship.
• Commitment to professional growth and quality patient care.
• Charge Nurse duties may be required after orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a Diploma in Nursing.
• Certifications in ACLS, TNCC, or CNA Critical Care Certification preferred.
• Experience working with diverse communities and groups is advantageous.
