Our client is one of Canada’s leading clinical, research, and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually. The emergency department is a busy tertiary care level I emergency department, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This large tertiary Trauma Centre provides opportunities in a broad base of emergency nursing from Pediatrics to Trauma Care. Registered Nurses within the Emergency department work in a state-of-the-art facility utilizing an electronic tracking system to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for emergency patients. Decisions are made in a collaborative multidisciplinary health care team environment. In this role, you may be required to work in all areas of Emergency at the discretion of the Unit Manager/Charge Nurse. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while taking steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making, as well as teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting shared vision and values.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of certain required courses.

Additional Required Qualifications:

• 2 years of med/surg/acute care experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS – Heart and Stroke AED Level C required).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to assist in transporting, lifting, and positioning of patients.
• Physical requirements including bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year of Emergency experience.
• Recent nursing experience in a tertiary/urban centre.
• Recent critical care experience in the last 2 years.
• Certifications like ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, PALS, NRP are preferred.
• Preference for those with excellent assessment, organizational, patient care, and leadership skills.
• Triage and/or Charge Nurse experience.
