Your Opportunity:This position is suitable for an individual who has a passion for providing patient and family-centered care. Our client is located between the city of Cold Lake and Bonnyville, offering indoor and outdoor recreational activities to keep you busy year-round. Reporting to the Integrated Care Manager, Seniors Health, and the Managers of Population Health and Indigenous Health, you will serve rural indigenous communities in your portfolio.

As the Community Health Nurse, you will promote and protect the health and well-being of individuals, families, groups, and populations. Your role involves using nursing processes that include assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, education, anticipatory guidance, implementation, preventative measures, referrals, and evaluations as appropriate. You will facilitate holistic care to indigenous people, promote respectful relationships with stakeholders, and build understanding between indigenous communities and the healthcare system. Travel is integral to this position, providing services and promoting culturally appropriate care to communities in the North Zone.

Description:As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, and communities while ensuring their safety and well-being. You will utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making, along with teaching, counseling, and advocating on behalf of patients and their families. Your leadership role will support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care and health promotion.

PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders will be paid $35.87/hour – $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the registrar as a Registered Nurse, the pay will be adjusted in accordance with the applicable articles of the health system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing services to ensure patients’ safety and well-being.
• Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Teach, counsel, and advocate for patients and families.
• Support health promotion and maintenance.
• Facilitate culturally appropriate care/services.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• 2-5 years of nursing experience in relevant settings within the last 5 years.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including travel to rural communities.
• Understanding of traditional Indigenous healing practices.
• Ability to speak or understand indigenous languages is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) tool.
• Physically able to perform all assigned tasks involving manual labor.
