Our client is dedicated to enhancing care in the community, helping people be healthy, well, and independent in their homes and communities. Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services, and Palliative Care.

We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Supportive Living team to provide care and support to adults and seniors residing in congregate living settings. Supportive Living is a non-institutional alternative for those who are no longer able to live in their own home, focusing on health promotion, well-being, independence, and maintaining functional abilities.

As a self-directed team member with Continuing Care in the Edmonton zone, the Registered Nurse works collaboratively with the health care team and has responsibilities, including:

• Assessment of needs
• Delivering appropriate therapeutic nursing services within professional practice standards
• Coordinating resources
• Establishing goals for client delivery
• Evaluating outcomes
• Providing case management as well as direct client care that meets established clinical standards
• Acting as a consultant on the team providing clinical expertise and direction regarding client cases
• Developing a care plan based on unmet needs using appropriate internal and external resources
• Participating in staff development and mentoring student clinical experiences

Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations while ensuring their safety and well-being. In your role, you will:

• Utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making
• Teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families
• Play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance
• Provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care reflecting the shared vision and values of our client

Compensation: Please note, provisional permit holders shall be paid $39.58/hour – $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted accordingly.

• Minimum Salary: $43.26
• Maximum Salary: $59.21
• Vehicle Requirement: Driver’s License, Vehicle Required

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
• If not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of specific free courses is required
• Two years of recent nursing experience or completion of a refresher program within 2 years
• Excellent organizational, communication, and assessment skills
• Physically capable of performing nursing tasks which may include transferring clients

Preferred Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred, though relevant skills and experience may be considered
• Palliative care experience
• Experience in Continuing Care and/or geriatric care
• Experience with specific assessment tools
• 2 years current Case Management Experience in Continuing Care
