Our client is dedicated to enhancing care in the community, helping people be healthy, well, and independent in their homes and communities. Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services, and Palliative Care. We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Home Living team to provide professional support services in the homes of clients of all ages and stages of life.

As a self-directed team member with Continuing Care, the Registered Nurse works collaboratively with the health care team and has responsibilities including:

  • Assessment of needs
  • Delivering appropriate therapeutic nursing services within professional practice standards
  • Coordinating resources
  • Establishing goals for client delivery
  • Evaluating outcomes

    • In addition, this position provides case management as well as direct client care that meets established clinical standards, is evidence-based, and client-centered. The Registered Nurse acts as a consultant on the team, providing clinical expertise and direction to team members regarding client cases, and developing care plans based on unmet needs.

    As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations while ensuring their safety and well-being. Your role includes:

  • Utilizing nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making
  • Teaching, counseling, and advocating on behalf of patients and their families
  • Playing a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance
  • Providing safe and quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the organization’s shared vision and values

    • Please note: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58/hour – $54.16/hour. Upon registration as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted according to the applicable scale.

    • Minimum Salary: $43.26
    • Maximum Salary: $59.21
    • Vehicle Requirement: Driver’s License, Vehicle Required

    Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program
  • Active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • If not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years, completion of required free courses

    • Additional Required Qualifications

  • Two years of recent nursing experience or completion of a refresher program within two years
  • Self-directed and ability to work independently with sound professional judgement
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Physically capable of performing nursing tasks, including transfer of clients

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, relevant skills and experience in nursing practice will be considered
  • Palliative care experience
  • Previous Continuing Care and/or geriatric experience
  • Experience with Connect Care and the RAI Home Care assessment tool
  • Two years of current case management experience in Continuing Care
