Job Opportunity for Operating Room Registered Nurse

Our client is seeking a dedicated Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse for its busy surgical theatres. The successful candidate will handle various surgeries including general, orthopedic, gynecological, dental, and ear, nose, and throat procedures, while also being cross-trained in other departments.

This role emphasizes patient advocacy and collaboration between care units and the Operating Room, providing crucial perioperative care, including scrub, circulating, post-anesthetic recovery, day surgery, endoscopy procedural care, and pre- and post-endoscopy. The OR Nurse is expected to thrive in a fast-paced, integrated surgical team, demonstrating advanced critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.

Additional responsibilities include delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, promoting professional standards, and integrating evidence-based practices for optimal surgical outcomes.

• Shift Pattern: Days, On Call
• Days Off: As Per Rotation
• Minimum Salary: $43.26/hour
• Maximum Salary: $59.21/hour

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• If not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following courses is required:
  • CRNA Medication Management – Chapters 1 – 4
  • NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification

Additional Qualifications

• At least two (2) years of experience as a front line nurse in the last five (5) years on a medicine/surgical unit, acute care unit, emergency department, or critical care unit.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completed the perioperative nursing course.
• At least two (2) years of experience in an OR suite, day surgery unit, and/or post-anesthesia recovery room within the last five (5) years.
• Post-Anesthesia Care Nursing Course.
• Canadian Nurses Association Peri-operative CPN(C) Certification.
• Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) member.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
