Drayton Valley is located in the Central Zone, just 133 km southwest of Edmonton and 172 km northwest of Red Deer. The town has a population of over 7,000. In and around the area are a library, movie theatre, bowling alley, camping areas, 6 golf courses, and a ski hill. The Omniplex encompasses three multi-purpose recreation facilities, all under one roof. Conveniently located in the heart of Lions West Valley Park, the Omniplex is surrounded by five baseball diamonds, a soccer field, the rodeo grounds, a secluded day-use park and a 40-site full-service RV Park.

Job Role:The Registered Nurse – Case Manager is responsible for directing the care of clients under the home care program. The Case Manager must have strong interpersonal communication and interdisciplinary team player skills, excellent critical thinking, creativity, resourcefulness, time management, and organization abilities. Responsibilities include:

• Assessment of client needs
• Establishing goals for client care delivery
• Planning, delivering, and coordination of care needs, resources, and services
• Communication and coordination of client care with the interdisciplinary team
• Evaluation of outcomes

Description:As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making, as well as teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance.

Compensation:Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour – $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted according to the applicable rate for a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications:Required qualifications include:

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)

If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of certain courses will be required.

Additional Qualifications:

• Ability to be on call as per operational needs and report to the site/client’s home within 45 minutes of call
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job

Preferred Qualifications:

• Training in case management principles is an asset
• Knowledge of the continuing care sector and various levels of care is an asset
• Knowledge of Connect Care and interRAI HC is preferred
• Experience in wound care with excellent knowledge of wound care principles and product use is an asset
