Your Opportunity:Our client is a full-service hospital that provides services to Calgary in high-need areas including Women’s Health, NICU, Emergency, Surgery, and Mental Health. This facility is more than just a “hospital”; it is a campus environment that includes inpatient, outpatient, and wellness services, as well as prevention and public health learning opportunities for the community. The campus also includes a YMCA and retail services. The Cardiac Inpatient (ACU 66), working collaboratively with all the clinical teams across the campus, is in the process of hiring a Registered Nurse (RN). This unit offers a unique opportunity to work with acute General Internal Medicine and Cardiology patients in a modern environment.

Key Responsibilities:

The RN works as a key member of the interdisciplinary health care team and collaborates with other staff, Physicians, Allied Health, and Support Workers to provide comprehensive, quality care to patients and families. The RN provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of promoting, maintaining, or restoring health, preventing illness, injury, and disability, and supporting a peaceful death. The RN is accountable to the public for their practice and is responsible for ensuring that practice meets legislative requirements, the practice standards set by the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA), and the Canadian Code of Ethics.

Job Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations while ensuring their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, as well as teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Compensation:

• Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour – $54.16/hour.
• Once registered, the pay rate shall be adjusted to the applicable rate for Registered Nurses.

• Minimum Salary: $43.26
• Maximum Salary: $59.21

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• If you have not practiced as an RN within the last five (5) years, completion of additional courses is required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year experience on an Acute Care Adult Medical Unit within the last 2 years required, or completion of Nursing Final Focus in ICU/CCU, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, or a Unit with similar acuity required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessment skills and sound nursing judgement.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team.
• High functioning time management and prioritization skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
• Experience in Acute Care Inpatient Cardiology Unit preferred.
• Current telemetry certification preferred.
• Charge Nurse experience preferred.
• Experience with family-centered care preferred.
