The Opportunity:
Our client is currently seeking a Project Controls Manager to join their Transportation Systems team. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will support the Rail & Transit team in leading and managing major multi-disciplinary projects in the Rail & Transit industry. Your responsibilities will include project schedule development, cost control, variance analysis, forecasting and reporting, earned value management, change management, and risk management.

As a member of the Transportation Systems team, you will have the opportunity to define processes, create execution plans, mentor junior team members, and be the technical lead for multiple projects, all while being supported by management to develop work plans and professional skills.

Responsibilities:

• Provide project controls oversight for multi-disciplinary Rail & Transit projects
• Act as a deputy to the Project Director and liaise with construction partners for project delivery success
• Establish connections with Clients and internal Project Controls teams
• Manage project management activities including budgeting, scheduling, and quality review of deliverables
• Monitor baseline budgets and work breakdown structure
• Ensure project execution plans, financial forecasting, and schedules are prepared and updated
• Present operational information to senior management clearly and confidently
• Lead project coding structures using Primavera P6
• Identify and propose solutions to deviations in project plans
• Implement methods for effective progress measurement
• Assist in preparing reporting packages for executive reviews
• Participate in meetings and information sessions with management
• Review client billings for accuracy and approve prior to submission
• Track payment receipts and report status internally
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams as necessary

Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience in leading Project Controls
• Post-secondary diploma or degree in project management, finance, or business preferred
• PMP Designation is required
• Leadership experience in complex multidisciplinary design and construction projects
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Primavera P6, and/or cost estimating
• Able to manage deadlines, ambiguity, and change
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including report writing
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills are essential
• Experience in a Consulting Engineering environment is an asset
