Job Overview

Our client has earned an international reputation for innovation and excellence in the design, manufacturing, and support of electronic products for the aviation markets. This position reports directly to the Engineering Director for the Displays and Sensors and collaborates with the Business Development Manager (BDM) and System Engineer to design and enhance core products.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Roadmap: You will be the key driver and owner of the technical roadmap, working closely with the BDM to align with product strategy.
• Engineering Development Planning: Collaborate with engineering teams to prioritize features, meet technical requirements, and consider timeline and resource constraints.
• Voice of Customer: Ensure that customer needs and use cases are well understood and documented while building relationships with technical counterparts at partners and customers.
• Technical Design and Specifications: Lead the definition of technical design, scope, requirements, and specifications of the product.
• Product Architecture: Define technical solutions and document architecture using principles like modularity, scalability, and maintainability.
• Product Governance and Lifecycle: Update the management team on technical roadmap status and manage component obsolescence decisions.
• Act as the Engineering Design Authority: Provide technical leadership and oversight to ensure alignment with the technical roadmap.
• Accountable for Design for Manufacturability: Engage with Manufacturing and Supply Chain stakeholders early to optimize factory cost.
• Technological Industry Trends: Stay current with evolving technology trends, regulatory requirements, and the competitive landscape.
• Support Bids & Proposals: Ensure engineering estimates align with the technical roadmap and target costs.
• Support Sales and Marketing: Offer technical expertise to assist in securing new business, with expected travel of 20% for trade shows and workshops.
• CMC Culture Role Model: Drive high standards for individual, team, and organizational achievement by fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and open communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, or related field; MBA is an asset.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant technical experience in computing and display solutions for aerospace applications.
• Experience in product ownership throughout its lifecycle and in technical leadership roles.
• Customer-facing experience.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes according to aerospace standards.
• Ability to forecast market and technology trends and align strategies for success.
• Exposure to various engineering disciplines, including electronics, software, firmware, and mechanical.
• Technical knowledge of computer architecture and avionics architecture.
• Capable of conveying technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
• Skilled in creating effective PowerPoint presentations.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Eligible for Canadian Controlled Goods Program and NATO Secret security clearance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
