The Opportunity

As a senior leader within a multi-disciplinary team, you will address complex water quality issues for clients across various sectors in Western Canada. This role falls under the Environmental Management team, which comprises over 20 specialists in toxicology, risk assessment, and environmental monitoring. As a Senior Environmental Scientist, you will connect with different groups on projects, which include:

• Water quality monitoring and permit applications
• Environmental impact assessments
• Aquatic effects assessment and monitoring
• Risk assessments
• Specialty toxicology services

Your Responsibilities

• Design and implement water quality and aquatic effects monitoring programs in BC and Western Canada.
• Lead project teams throughout the project lifecycle with a focus on technical delivery.
• Ensure quality assurance/quality control during data collection and reporting.
• Communicate scientific findings effectively to non-scientific audiences.
• Support client engagement with Indigenous Groups and stakeholders.
• Prepare technical reports for regulatory authorities.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to meet client deliverables.
• Develop project management, coordination, and planning skills to adhere to timelines and budgets.

What You’ll Bring

• University degree in environmental science, toxicology, or biological sciences; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Professional Registration as a Registered Professional Biologist or eligibility for such registration.
• 12 to 15 years of relevant experience in the field.
• Leadership experience in managing teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Positive attitude and willingness to mentor staff.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of BC and CCME water quality guidelines and the environmental assessment process.
• Valid driver’s license and commitment to health and safety.

Compensation

Expected salary in British Columbia ranges from $122,500 to $168,500. The final salary will vary based on education, qualifications, experience, and organizational needs.
