Your Opportunity

This permanent full-time Physiotherapist II position is based in our client’s Community Health Centre in Peace River, AB. Peace River is a community of approximately 7,000 people and services a larger rural area in Northwestern Alberta. The Community Health Centre is a busy hub for the area, and this is an opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings in a rural environment.

You will work within a Rehabilitation team consisting of PT, OT, RT, SLP, SW, and Recreation in an interdisciplinary environment. You will have the opportunity to use your skills in various areas of the health care system such as acute care, outpatients, and long-term care. It’s an opportunity to work in diverse clinical settings with clients of all ages, allowing you to use the full scope of your practice. Supervision of Therapy Assistants is also involved. Travel to provide service at other sites may be required.

In addition to a competitive rate of pay and benefits, our client currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place with an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours worked at the basic rate of pay. A relocation allowance based on location is also available to successful candidates.

Description

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing supervision of students and team members as assigned.
• Working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals.
• Making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
• Advising team members on complex clinical cases and providing clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
• Ensuring physiotherapy practice aligns with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics, and policy guidelines.
• Coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area, monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs, and assisting other medical staff with caseload management.
• Participating in program development and operational planning, representing the department on committees or programs.
• Collaborating with managers and other healthcare providers to make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities.

Our client is dedicated to supporting physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skill sets regardless of location. All Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to connect via email, phone, and virtual meetings. As they transition to the Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care), you will also be able to share patient information in real-time with senior clinicians to assist in providing high-quality care.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program with related experience.
• Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
