Job Overview

Position: Physiotherapist Assistant (PTA)

Location: Etobicoke, ON

Work Setting: On site – Sports therapy, Medical clinic, Orthopedics

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time (30 hours per week)

Salary: $22.00 to $28.00 per hour (To be negotiated)

Responsibilities

• Administer evaluative tests
• Assess patients’ physical abilities
• Assist health care professionals
• Assist physicians in patient assessments
• Carry out treatment programs under the direction of physiotherapists and occupational therapists
• Follow through on treatment programs with patients
• Maintain prescription records
• Supervise technical and support staff
• Clean and maintain equipment
• Assist chiropractor with patient health education
• Plan physiotherapy programs
• Process claims such as health insurance or workers’ compensation
• Collect statistics
• Connect treatment machines to patients as directed
• Assist with physical examinations
• Conduct physiotherapy research
• Process files and paperwork
• Order supplies and maintain inventory

Qualifications

Education

• College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year

Experience

1 to less than 7 months
