Your Opportunity:As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the experienced peri-operative Operating Room Technician (ORT) will be responsible for providing peri-operative patient care in accordance with practice standards. The incumbent will demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective, and efficient care in both a scrub and a circulating role as an integral part of the surgical team. The nurse is responsible for providing safe care throughout the patient stay in the surgical suite, promoting the professional role, and evaluating their professional education and clinical practice standards. The scope of practice ranges from basic to advanced clinical nursing activities. The ORT is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care during the peri-operative patient experience in accordance with hospital policies and standards. The incumbent will work with patients during the peri-operative phase of care and must demonstrate a professional, positive attitude, excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills when performing scrubbing and circulating duties in the surgical environment. It is expected that the ORT will contribute to quality initiatives and promote a professional work environment. The Main OR (DTC) consists of 13 theatres primarily focused on general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery including arthroplasty, plastic, maxillofacial, urology, thoracic, and vascular procedures. Theatres are digitally integrated for performing minimally invasive surgery, and this is a level 2 trauma center with over 10,000 surgeries done annually, making it a busy and fast-paced environment.
