This Full-time Permanent Occupational Therapist II position is based out of the Fairview Health Complex in Fairview, Alberta, and is an opportunity to work in various clinical settings in a rural environment. You will be working with a multidisciplinary team in acute care, home care, outpatient, and long-term care settings. There is also the supervision of a Therapy Assistant as part of this position. This role will allow you to work with clients of all ages in an interdisciplinary team environment. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, our client currently offers a Remote Retention Allowance of up to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description

As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Make day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
  • Advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area.
  • Ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and aligned with Alberta legislation, regulations, professional standards, and guidelines.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area, monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs, and assisting other medical staff with caseload management.
  • Participate in program development and operational planning; represent the department on committees or programs.
  • Make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.
  • Carry out roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator, and/or advocate in your program or service area as assigned.

    • Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program with related experience.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
