This full-time Occupational Therapist II position is based out of the Fairview Health Complex in Fairview, Alberta, and offers the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings in a rural environment. You will be working with a multidisciplinary team in acute care, home care, outpatients, and long-term care settings. This position includes the supervision of a Therapy Assistant. You will collaborate with clients of all ages in an interdisciplinary team environment. In addition to a competitive rate of pay and benefits, there is currently a Remote Retention Allowance in place, with an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description

As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing supervision of students and team members as assigned.
• Working independently and as a part of an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals.
• Making day-to-day clinical decisions regarding patient/family needs concerning assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
• Advising team members on complex clinical cases and providing clinical leadership within the program or service area.
• Ensuring occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation, regulations, professional standards, and guidelines.
• Coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery.
• Participating in program development and operational planning, and representing the department on committees or programs.
• Making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.
• Carrying out roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator, and/or advocate in your program or service area as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program, or a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy with related experience.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
