Job Overview

Our client’s Métis Family Well-Being programs aim to disrupt and prevent the cycle of violence against Indigenous women. This involves developing policies and resources to support children and youth affected by violence, emphasizing strengths-based and prevention-oriented initiatives at the local level to reduce the number of Indigenous children in care and improve community health.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the delivery of the Métis Family Well-Being program aligns with the Métis Nation of Ontario’s Statement of Prime Purpose.
• Determine client-driven needs and courses of action.
• Facilitate client services such as home visits, service support assessments, referrals, and consultations.
• Provide education and learning through organized activities, targeted towards community groups.
• Record client services in the Online Health and Access Tracking System (OHATS).
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy legislation.
• Perform administrative duties as instructed by the Program Supervisor.
• Manage financial reporting specific to the program site and budget.
• Incorporate Métis cultural approaches into activities and services.
• Participate in ongoing professional development activities as time and resources allow.
• Attend training and meetings beyond regular working hours.
• Fulfill additional responsibilities as determined by the management of the Healing and Wellness Branch.

Qualifications

Mandatory Qualifications

• Experience working with volunteers in a non-profit environment.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in client services.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children aged 0-18.
• Proficiency in computer programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in social services.
• Knowledge of the Métis Nation of Ontario and its programs.
• Familiarity with Indigenous programs and services.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team with minimal supervision.
• Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills to meet deadlines.
• Physical ability to lift 11.5 kg when required.
