Mechanical Design Engineer Oakville Canada – Immigration Support Possible

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 6-month contract to assist with new product introductions. This position offers potential immigration support for qualified applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review high-level user/project requirements and translate them into mechanical product requirements.
  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies from design/product requirements, including fabricated metal components, plastic injection product enclosures, and electrical-mechanical interfaces.
  • Collaborate with purchasing to manage BOM COGS targets throughout the development process and provide inputs into the make/buy process.
  • Support engineering prototype builds and resolve assembly/testing issues throughout the pilot build.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions related to product quality issues.
  • Initiate, promote, and manage engineering change notices along with documenting the engineering justification supporting the changes.
  • Perform initial feasibility assessments for OTS component selection and contribute to the qualification plan.
  • Assist in the development of mechanical design verification test protocols, execution, and reporting, including failure mode analysis.
  • Assess suppliers and product conformance, including tolerance analysis and first article inspections.
  • Support the product safety certification process (e.g., IEC 60601-1) and human factors engineering.
  • Oversee dFMEA and provide insights into pFMEA and production controls to ensure product quality.
  • Develop and monitor mechanical timelines against project milestones and report project issues to engineering and project management.

    • Required Skills

  • 15-20 years of mechanical design experience with new product introductions or sustaining products, preferably with medical devices or consumer products with complex electro-mechanical architecture.
  • 15-20 years of experience with Solidworks, including plastic, sheet metal, and electro-mechanical subassemblies.
  • Capability to work towards product requirements, monitor program milestones, and resolve technical roadblocks.
  • Experience in plastic enclosure design.
  • Ability to manage vendor deliverables, especially for a medical cart.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of GD&T.

    Compensation

    The pay range for this position is $70.00 – $80.00/hr.
