• Salary: $36.10 hourly / 40 hours per week
• Terms of Employment: Permanent Full-time

Overview

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.

Experience: Will train.

Key Responsibilities

• Address customers’ complaints or concerns.
• Arrange travel, related itineraries, and make reservations.
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
• Drive lighter, special purpose trucks.
• Load and unload goods.
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes.
• Inspect and oversee vehicle condition; check tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
• Perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs.
• Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Relay information to central dispatch.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption.
• Ensure safety and security of cargo, including tarping.
• Transport and handle dangerous goods.

Documentation Knowledge

• Accident or incident reports.
• Bill of lading.
• Driver logbook.
• Inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip).
• Trans-border documentation.
• Trip reports.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s licence.
• Willing to travel cross-border and overnight.
• Valid passport.
• Criminal record check and driver’s validity licence check.
• Driving record check (abstract) and drug test.
• Tools and equipment include: cellular phone, hard hat, steel-toed safety boots, safety vest, gloves.
• Personal qualities: flexibility, organization, reliability, team player, hardworking, and patience.
