Your Opportunity:

Tofield Continuing Care is a 50 bed unit located in a rural setting where the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works within an interdisciplinary team environment to provide client-centred care. The LPN must be able to work to their full scope of practice, working under the direction of the Nurse in Charge while providing leadership, including direction, supervision, and client care coordination to unregulated staff. The LPN must utilize critical thinking skills to plan, assess, implement, and evaluate client-centred care. This environment is suitable for candidates with a strong interest and skills in providing care to elderly clients, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of our client.

• Minimum Salary: $27.58
• Maximum Salary: $36.13

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

• Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
• Able to work in an interdisciplinary team environment.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities.
• Able to work shift work.
• Able to meet the physical demands of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Recent gerontology nursing experience and/or education is an asset.
• Experience in a continuing care environment within the last three years.
• Experience with the RAI-MDS.
• Experience using the Connect Care system.
