Your Opportunity:

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on their busy Adult Psychiatry Unit. The LPN is a pivotal front line Nursing role providing clinical intervention and treatment to patients experiencing mental health crises. The LPN will work collaboratively with physicians, staff, management, and various departments within the health center, as well as the community of Red Deer and rural sites within the Central Zone.

Working within a multidisciplinary team of compassionate and dedicated healthcare professionals, you will utilize your critical thinking and problem-solving skills to competently provide direct patient and family-centered care to clients across the lifespan. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of safe, quality care following policies and guidelines of Alberta Health Services. While demonstrating a professional, positive attitude, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, you will respond appropriately to a patient’s change in status and prioritize conflicting demands. Ongoing professional development is essential and includes participation in education programs and continuous improvement activities.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be part of an interprofessional healthcare team utilizing nursing processes along with critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, skill level, and the policies and procedures of our client.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Acute Care as an LPN.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector search as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention course.
