In this role, nurses may be required to work across various areas of the Emergency Department at the discretion of the Unit Manager or Charge Nurse. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional healthcare team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality, patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of our organization.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications

• Strong assessment, organization, and patient care skills, with a proven ability to communicate findings concisely and accurately.
• Adept at adapting to fluctuating priorities and workloads, with strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
• Committed to identifying personal learning needs and seeking professional guidance when necessary.
• 2 years of experience in medical-surgical and acute care settings, with consideration for equivalent combinations of education and experience.
• Holds current Basic Life Support (BLS – Heart and Stroke AED Level C) certification, with Healthcare Provider Registration (certificate must be provided).
• This role requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, as well as assisting in the transport, lifting, and positioning of patients.
• Additional physical demands include bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 1-year emergency experience within the last 2 years.
• Preference will be given to those with 1 or more of the following: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Certified Emergency Nurse (C.N.A. or C.N.E.).
• Acute/Critical Care experience within the last 2 years.
• Able to demonstrate excellent assessment, organizational, patient care, and leadership skills.
• Triage and/or Charge nurse experience an asset.
