Position: Licensed Practical Nurse

Our client is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the multidisciplinary team at the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton. This role is particularly significant as the hospital is Alberta’s only specialized healthcare facility for infants, children, and youth, providing complex pediatric care and research.

Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will:

  • Provide leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Deliver education and mentorship for peers, students, patients, and families.
  • Participate in professional growth opportunities, including unit-based safety/education sessions and skill certifications.
  • Be cross-trained to Stollery Inpatient Units, including winter surge beds.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

    • Additional Required Qualifications:

  • Successfully pass the Stollery PEARS course (Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization Course) during orientation.
  • Successfully pass the Stollery Medication Administration exam.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making, assessment, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

    • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with children with tracheostomies and medically fragile patient populations.
  • Connect Care Training and experience are considered an asset.
