Join our client in Northern Zone, where we are looking for a dedicated Social Worker to be part of a multi-disciplinary team. This is an exciting temporary full-time role that offers the possibility of immigration support for international candidates.

About the Opportunity

Under the direction of the Manager for Recovery Support Services, the Social Worker will be responsible for providing a wide range of clinical services, including:

• Screening and assessment
• Individual counseling
• Treatment and discharge planning
• Crisis intervention
• Group programming
• Case management and navigation
• Consultation

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable and skilled in harm reduction, recovery models, and the psychosocial rehabilitation model (PSR).

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work
• Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work (NSCSW)
• Two years of licensed related clinical experience, preferably with individuals facing substance use or mental health issues
• Knowledge of community resources and community development methods
• Proficiency in screening and risk assessment skills, including suicide risk assessment
• Able to build collaborative relationships within healthcare and the community
• Working knowledge of harm reduction strategies and stages of change theory
• Experience in brief intervention strategies, motivational interviewing, and client engagement
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care approaches
• Understanding of social determinants of health
• Demonstrated knowledge of recovery-oriented practice
• Ability to work with autonomy and adapt care plans as needed
• Experience in harm reduction and recovery-focused interventions
• Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French preferred

A minimum of two years of clinical licensed experience is required. Candidates with less than two years may still be considered under certain conditions.

Hours

• Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
• Approximately 12 months; dates are subject to change

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is as follows:

• Healthcare Social Worker B: $36.58 – $47.35 hourly
• Healthcare Social Worker A (Developmental): $34.80 – $43.30 hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for a benefits package that includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, along with a defined benefit pension plan.
