About This Team

The Merchandising team creates and executes transformative global product strategies to ensure the right assortment is in the right place at the right time. Their aim is to fulfill guests’ unmet needs, deepen relationships, grow the brand, and meet long-term enterprise goals by maximizing demand.

A Day in the Life

The Global Merchandise Manager is a seasoned product and market strategist responsible for overseeing the global merchandise strategies and roadmap for the season. This role involves leading the creation, management, and execution of the global product assortment by collaborating with the Product, Brand/Marketing, and Guest Experience teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee a team of Global Merchants, inspiring and guiding them to develop skills and business priorities.
• Support employee development plans and manage performance.
• Define class strategies based on short-range strategy (2-3 years) and sales plan targets.
• Create global seasonal merchandise strategies and roadmap in partnership with the Merchandise Director and cross-functional teams.
• Brief raw materials in partnership with the Merchandise Director.
• Lead the team in building the architecture of the assortment, delivering against seasonal KPIs.
• Present seasonal merchandise direction to Regional Buyers and key cross-functional partners.
• Build strategic vision for franchises and product lifecycle management.
• Sign off on sketches, colour, and prototypes against product brief and long-term category strategy.
• Gain in-depth consumer, competitive, and market insights.
• Ensure seasonal KPIs/targets are met in partnership with Global Merchandise Planning.

Qualifications

• BA, BSc, BBA, BComm (or equivalent); specialization in Retail Management is an asset.
• Minimum 8 years experience, combining people management and merchandising experience.
• Proven ability to coach, mentor, and lead a team.
• Required understanding and experience working for a global brand.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs; mastery in Excel and merchandising software; preferred experience in Adobe Illustrator.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret various data points.
• Financial acumen and understanding of Retail Math.
• Ability to balance analytical and creative tasks.
• Acute eye for product and colour trends; aware of macro lifestyle and fashion trends.
• Ability to communicate vision and feedback to key partners.
• Strong communication skills and ability to present to Senior Leadership.
• Ability to multitask and operate in a fast-paced environment.
• High organization and attention to detail.

Compensation and Benefits Package

Our client’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy. The typical hiring range for this position is CAD 129,600 – 170,100 annually. Base pay may vary based on location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Permanent employees may be eligible for a competitive annual bonus program.
