Job Details

Position: Early Childhood Educator (ECE)
Location: Swift Current, SK
Salary: $15.35 to $20.43 hourly (To be negotiated)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

Overview

Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience.
Languages: English
Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year

Responsibilities

• Assess children’s development to prepare tailored learning plans.
• Develop and implement child-care programs supporting physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
• Lead activities such as storytelling and music sessions.
• Assist in record-keeping for early childhood educators and supervisors.
• Encourage creativity through various media including art and dramatic play.
• Engage children in hands-on activities.
• Guide children in developing eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
• Observe for potential learning or behavioral problems, preparing reports as needed.
• Attend staff meetings to discuss the progress of children.
• Establish collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers.
• Ensure a safe and healthy environment for children.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators.

Qualifications

• Child Development Assistant (ECE Level 1).
• Child Development Supervisor (ECE Level 3).
• Child Development Worker (ECE Level 2).
• Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR.
• Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
• First Aid Certificate.
• Montessori Early Childhood Teacher Certificate.

Experience with Special Needs Children

• Experience with children with physical disabilities.
• Experience with children with intellectual disabilities.
• Experience with children with behavioral issues.
• Experience with children with allergies.
• Experience with children with ADHD or ADD.

Work Conditions

• Physically demanding.
