Job Overview

Position: Companion Animal Veterinarian

Location: Corner Brook, NL

Work Setting: On site, Private practice, Veterinary clinic

Salary: $130,000 annually + 22% commission per sale

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

Responsibilities

• Diagnose diseases or abnormal conditions in individual animals, herds, and flocks through physical examinations or laboratory tests.
• Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds, or performing surgery.
• Vaccinate animals to prevent and treat diseases.
• Advise clients on feeding, housing, behaviour, breeding, hygiene, and general care of animals.
• Perform routine, emergency, and post-mortem examinations.
• Provide a range of veterinary services including obstetrics, dentistry, and euthanasia.
• Supervise animal health technologists and animal care workers.

Qualifications

• Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or optometry.
• Canadian Veterinary Medical Association Certification.
• Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities.

Additional Information

Security and Safety: Eligible for professional liability insurance, immunization records, and criminal record check.

Work Conditions: Handling heavy loads, fast-paced environment, physically demanding. Must be able to stand for extended periods.
