Butcher Assistant – Retail or Wholesale

Our client is looking for a dedicated Butcher Assistant for their retail or wholesale operations. Immigration sponsorship options are available for qualified candidates, with or without a valid Canadian work permit.

• Location: Hamilton, ON
• Work Setting: On site, in a large restaurant and hotel environment
• Salary: $36.00/hour based on 35 to 40 hours per week
• Terms of Employment: Permanent, full-time
• Special Commitments: Early morning, evening, night, weekend shifts, on call, and flexible hours

Responsibilities

• Clean meats to prepare for processing or cutting
• Cut carcasses, sides, and quarters
• Cut, trim, and prepare standard cuts of meat
• Wrap and package prepared meats
• Remove bones from meat
• Weigh meats for sale
• Cut poultry into parts
• Price meat products
• Sell meats to customers
• Grind meats
• Train meat cutters
• Make special sausages
• Slice cooked meats
• Shape, lace and tie roasts, other meats, poultry, and seafood
• Prepare special orders

Qualifications

• Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
• Experience: 1 to less than 7 months
• Languages: English
