Job DescriptionReporting directly to the Application Engineering Manager, you will create automated designs and collaborate with Account Executives by advising clients on industrial solutions. In this role, you will provide design insights to clients using our client’s CAD. You’ll work closely with stakeholders on various industrial automation projects and gain insider knowledge of leading automotive, robotics, and aerospace companies. Your expertise in mechanical design, automation, and robotics will enhance your team’s technical knowledge.

The Role

• Create effective solutions/design using 3D MachineBuilder and a library of modular components.
• Lead design review sessions with clients to provide feedback and insights.
• Review peers’ and users’ designs for performance, structural integrity, efficiency, and quality.
• Create custom parts and drawings using standard CAD software as needed.
• Write requests for proposals for third-party components and interact with suppliers.
• Support sales with the technical portion of project agreements.
• Conduct brainstorming sessions and technical post-mortems.
• Help qualify projects and support the sales team with project feasibility checks.
• Establish references, standards, work methods, and best practices.
• Support machinery deployment and after-sales activities.
• Travel to client sites (up to 2x per quarter).
• Communicate the Application Engineering team’s needs in the product roadmap and contribute to application development.
• Participate in project scoping with Product Line Management and other teams.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in OEM or System Integrator fields with varied industrial automation applications (e.g., EOAT, Conveyors, Packaging, Welding).
• A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.

• An OIQ engineer permit certification is an asset.
