Job Overview

Position: Accounting Technician
Location: Abbotsford, BC
Work setting: On-site in a rural area
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

Compensation

Salary: $28.50 to $38.00 per hour (to be negotiated)
Hours: 40 hours per week

Responsibilities

Key Tasks:

• Calculate and prepare cheques for payroll
• Calculate fixed assets and depreciation
• Maintain financial records and balance accounts using bookkeeping systems
• Maintain general ledgers and financial statements
• Post journal entries and prepare tax returns
• Reconcile accounts and prepare financial reports
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and procedures
• Oversee payroll administration and manage balance sheets

Experience and Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience: 5 years or more

Skills and Knowledge

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite
• Experience with Sage Accounting Software

Personal Suitability:

• Accuracy, client focus, and dependability
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management abilities

Security and Safety

• Basic security clearance required
• Criminal record check needed
