Your Opportunity:

Our client is a leading clinical, research, and teaching hospital in Canada, treating more than 700,000 patients annually from western and northern Canada. This position contributes to the care of patients in the medicine program, which consists of 14 units and includes services such as General Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Pulmonary, Hematology, and Geriatrics/Neurology. The program utilizes a collaborative care model (COACT) for patient care and Connect Care by Epic for the patient’s electronic medical record. The program has a team of Clinical Nurse Educators and Clinical Nurse Specialists to support new hire orientation, training in specialized areas, and ongoing professional development and initiatives. They strive to utilize evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient and family experiences and outcomes.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of our client.

Required Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)

Additional Required Qualifications:

• Must be able to work to full scope of practice (physically, mentally, and emotionally) on this very busy fast-paced GIM/Pulmonary Unit
• Must be able to push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs
• Recent acute care Medicine experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Connect Care training preferred
