Canada Express Entry: Funding Updates for PR Visa

Published on: July 17th, 2025

Important Updates for Express Entry Candidates

If you’re considering moving to Canada through the Express Entry system, there’s an important update you need to know about. The Government of Canada has revised the required funds for applicants looking to secure permanent residency (PR). As a candidate, you must provide updated proof of these funds by July 28, 2025, to maintain your eligibility for PR.

Who Needs to Act?

This requirement specifically affects those applying under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). However, if you’re applying under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), this update won’t apply to you. Failing to update your proof of funds by the deadline means you could be removed from the pool of candidates, which could prevent you from receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for PR.

What Are the New Fund Requirements?

As of July 7, 2025, here are the newly established required funds for various family sizes:

  • Single applicant: $14,690
  • Family of 2: $18,288
  • Family of 3: $22,483
  • Each additional family member: $3,958

You can see the full list of requirements based on family size on the government website.
