Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Air Quality Specialist to join our team, providing advanced technical expertise in air quality studies and compliance efforts. The successful candidate will focus on air dispersion modeling, emissions management, and regulatory compliance while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to tackle complex air quality challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Air Emission Inventory and Dispersion Modelling
• Lead preparation of high-quality air quality assessment reports to support air permitting and environmental assessments.
• Manage and perform air dispersion modeling using AERMOD, CALPUFF, and CAL3HQCR.
• Estimate air emissions for greenhouse gases, criteria air contaminants, and other pollutants using site-specific data and emission factors.
• Interpret modeling results and compare them to local, provincial, and federal regulations.

• Ambient Air Monitoring Support
• Manage installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of air monitoring equipment.
• Coordinate with suppliers and laboratories regarding equipment performance and calibration.
• Manage data collection, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data accuracy.
• Lead the preparation of air quality management and monitoring plans.

• Compliance (Permitting, NPRI, GHG, AEIR, etc.)
• Demonstrate knowledge of relevant regulatory programs, guidelines, and best practices related to ambient air quality.
• Coordinate the project team and lead assessments for permits and environmental projects.
• Liaise with provincial and federal regulators on behalf of clients.

• Research and Technical Expertise
• Conduct investigations into industrial processes and air emissions across various sectors.
• Provide recommendations on air pollution control strategies and compliance.
• Prepare high-quality technical documents and reports.

• Business Development
• Support business development and proposal preparation with technical expertise, especially in the energy and oil & gas sectors.

• Collaboration and Process Optimization
• Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to achieve project goals.
• Mentor junior staff and support business development initiatives.
• Automate data analysis workflows using tools like Python or R.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8 years of relevant experience in air quality analysis, dispersion modeling, project management, and environmental compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10 or more years of experience in air quality analysis, including advanced dispersion modeling.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in mentoring.
• Experience in preparing regulatory approvals and reports.
• Familiarity with ambient air monitoring systems and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Python or R for workflow automation.
