Responsibilities

Tasks

• Advise customers on indications, contraindications, adverse effects, drug interactions, and dosage
• Dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals to customers or to other health care professionals
• Order and maintain stock of pharmaceutical supplies
• Advise customers on selection and use of non-prescription medication
• Check prescriptions for proper dosage
• Compound prescribed pharmaceutical products by calculating, measuring, and mixing the right quantities of drugs and other ingredients
• Maintain medication profiles of customers including registry of poisons and narcotics
• Manage the storage, packaging, and distribution of medicinal products
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of other pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, and pharmacy technicians
• Control the quality of drug products during production
• Evaluate labeling, packaging, and advertising of drug products
• Leading/instructing individuals

Credentials

Certificates, Licences, Memberships, and Courses

• Certification for drug administration by injection and the intranasal route
• Pharmacy Examining Boards of Canada Certification
• Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities
