Responsibilities
Tasks
- Install domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
- Repair domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems
- Instruct apprentices
- Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures
- Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe fittings
- Join pipes using various methods including soldering and welding
- Schedule personnel, tools and equipment
- Test pipes for leaks using pressure gauges
- Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shapes
