Canada Invites Foreign Nationals for PR Applications

Foreign nationals are being invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada, providing an exciting pathway for those seeking to make Canada their home. Recently, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted the latest Express Entry lottery for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), and significant updates were released.

On June 23, 2025, IRCC held draw number 352, sending out 503 invitations. The lowest-ranked candidate had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 742. The CRS is a point-based system that evaluates applicants on various factors like age, education, and work experience. If you’re new to this process, scoring well can strongly influence your chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residency.

Prior to this draw, another session was held on June 10, allocating 125 invitations with a minimum CRS score of 784. In total, IRCC conducted three draws in June, issuing 905 invitations during the month.

The Provincial Nominee Program allows provinces and territories in Canada to nominate individuals who have the skills and experience needed to support their local economies. Each province has its unique criteria for selection, often focusing on those with job offers or expertise in occupations that are in high demand.

What is an LMIA? A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that a Canadian employer may need to obtain before hiring a foreign worker. This shows that hiring a foreign national won’t negatively impact the job market in that sector.

If you’re considering applying for permanent residency through the PNP, here’s a simple guide:

  1. Research Eligibility: Each province has specific requirements. Check if your occupation is in demand, or if you have a job offer in the province.

  2. Complete Your Application: Fill out the application as per the requirements of the province you’re interested in.

  3. Get Nominated: If selected, you’ll receive a Provincial Nomination Certificate, which allows you to proceed with your application for permanent residency.

  4. Apply for PR: With your nomination, you can apply for Canadian permanent residency through the Express Entry system.

Eligible candidates with job offers will see changes in their CRS points starting March 25, 2025. Points associated with job offers will be removed for specific occupations, impacting how applicants are ranked.

In summary, Canada offers many opportunities through its immigration pathways, especially via the PNP. If you have skills and talents that align with what Canadian provinces need, taking part in these programs could be your ticket to a new life in Canada.
