This rural generalist Physiotherapist II position provides physiotherapy services to clients in homecare in St. Paul and continuing care, acute care, and ambulatory outpatients in Elk Point as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Description

As a Physiotherapist II, you will coordinate physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. Working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, you will offer leadership to other healthcare professionals. Your responsibilities include:

  • Making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
  • Advising team members on complex clinical cases and providing clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
  • Ensuring physiotherapy practice is evidence-based and aligns with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics, and AHS policy and guidelines.
  • Coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area, monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs, and assisting other medical staff with caseload management.
  • Completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff.
  • Participating in program development and operational planning, representing the department on committees or programs.
  • Making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.

All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone, and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care), you will also be able to share patient information in real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high-quality care.

    Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience.
  • Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

    • Additional Required Qualifications

  • Certification in Basic Life Support – Healthcare Provider from the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • New grads are welcome to apply.
  • Preferably one year of experience in a rural generalist position.
  • One year of experience as a physiotherapist in continuing care and/or homecare.
  • AADL authorizer status for mobility aids.
